These Terms of Service govern your use of Chekin ("the Service"), operated by Dale Wallace ("we", "us", or "our"). By signing up, you agree to these terms.
Chekin is a family SMS check-in service. We send daily text messages to family groups and bridge replies between members. The Service requires a valid phone number for each member and a Twilio-connected SMS number for delivery.
As the group organizer, you are responsible for:
Your account is accessed via a unique token link — keep this link private.
You confirm that all phone numbers you add belong to real people who will be given the opportunity to opt in before receiving any messages. Every added member receives an opt-in text and must reply YES before receiving daily texts. You must not add phone numbers without the owner's knowledge.
Members can reply STOP at any time to opt out. We honor all opt-out requests immediately.
New accounts receive a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. After the trial ends, your group will be paused until you subscribe. Your data is retained for 90 days after a trial expires.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. You may cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — we do not offer prorated refunds for partial periods. If a payment fails, your group will be paused and you will be notified by SMS.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms without refund.
We rely on Twilio and US mobile carriers for message delivery. We cannot guarantee delivery of every message. Carrier delays, filtering, or outages are outside our control. We are not liable for undelivered messages.
Chekin's wellness alert feature notifies group members when a designated family member has not replied to the daily check-in within a set time period. This feature is intended as a gentle reminder only and is not a medical alert, emergency response, or safety monitoring service. Do not rely on Chekin as a substitute for emergency services or medical care.
Chekin is provided "as is." We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to missed messages, delivery failures, or reliance on wellness alerts. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months prior to the claim.
We may update or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes by SMS to group organizers.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
